We recently refreshed this garden after storm damage took down an old pear tree. In its place, we planted a beautiful Amelanchier lamarckii. To frame the space, we added sleek corten steel edging and surrounded it with drought-tolerant plants.
To highlight three specimen olive trees within a large courtyard garden, we constructed a raised sleeper bed and introduced Mediterranean-style planting. This not only showcased the olives but also softened the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
To provide screening from the adjacent street and improve privacy, we installed a row of pleached hornbeams. Underplanting was added to soften the structure and create a balanced, attractive garden space.
This courtyard was transformed into a lush, tropical retreat. Statement Trachycarpus fortunei were introduced and underplanted with tree ferns, Fatsia japonica, and other bold, large-leaved species to create a striking jungle-inspired atmosphere.
